  • Father cal christiansen

    Pastor

I was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and raised mainly in a German-Canadian household, speaking both English and German. In the early 1980s, I moved with my family to Washington State and grew up on the Olympic Peninsula. I first attended the University of Washington, then transferred to St. Martin’s University, where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Studies/Theology. I entered St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo, California, and I was ordained to the priesthood in 2008.

Upon ordination, I served in the Tacoma family of parishes for two years as a Vicar, St. Rose in Longview for three years as a Priest Administrator, and St. Pius X for eleven years as a Pastor. I am currently a doctoral candidate at the Clough School of Theology and Ministry at Boston College.

Having studied Spanish extensively in Mexico and lived and ministered there during two periods in my priesthood, I have joyfully served our Hispanic communities in the Archdiocese in various ways within the parish setting and at the Archdiocesan level as well. Becoming a Catholic in high school, I bring to the faith the excitement and enthusiasm of a convert. This zeal and enthusiasm for our Catholic Christian Faith has followed me into the priesthood.

When not actively engaged in ministry and academics, I love running, bicycling, skiing, backpacking, occasionally sneaking out to see a good movie and spending time with families. I am incredibly excited to serve each of you as your new pastor, and have great hope and expectant faith for the great work that our Lord will accomplish in our midst!
